Safety Tips
Searching for a Gulf job is exciting, but it comes with risks — especially scams targeting job seekers. Follow these tips to protect yourself, your money, and your personal information.
Golden rule: never pay money to apply for a job.
Legitimate employers do not charge applicants any fees — not for visas, not for training, not for "reservations."
Common Warning Signs
- Asking for payment for application processing, visa, or medical screening.
- Salary that is unusually high for the role and market.
- Job offer without an interview, or after only a brief chat by message.
- Requests for bank details or a passport copy before a formal contract.
- Contact from generic email accounts (Gmail, Yahoo) on behalf of large companies.
- Pressure for a fast decision ("limited spot", "don't tell anyone").
- Frequent spelling and grammar errors in the listing or recruiter messages.
Before You Apply
- Search the company name online — verify there is a real official website and presence.
- Check the email domain — it should match the company's official domain.
- Read the full listing and compare the salary level to similar roles.
During the Interview
- Ask specific questions about the role, the team, and the office.
- Request to review the contract before signing — never sign what you don't understand.
- Verify visa and residency details under the country's laws.
If You Spot a Scam
