About the Role

The Database Administrator at Zain Kuwait plays a crucial role in managing the company's enterprise database platforms that support critical business services. You will be responsible for ensuring high availability, performance, and resilience of database environments while supporting day-to-day operations, governance, and continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain enterprise database environments supporting business-critical applications with a focus on Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and MySQL
• Perform comprehensive database administration tasks including backup, recovery, performance monitoring, and security protocols
• Troubleshoot and optimize database systems for improved performance and reliability, ensuring minimal downtime
• Implement and maintain database monitoring tools and health check practices to proactively identify issues
• Support the adoption of modern database technologies including NoSQL and cloud databases to meet evolving business needs
• Maintain detailed operational procedures and documentation for database environments
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure database solutions align with business objectives

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or IT or equivalent relevant experience
• Strong knowledge of SQL (Structured Query Language) including querying, joins, subqueries, and aggregations
• Understanding of database design principles including normalization and schema design
• Experience with data modeling, ER diagrams, and relational modeling concepts
• Knowledge of indexing strategies, query optimization, and ACID properties
• Familiarity with backup, recovery, restore operations, and disaster recovery concepts
• Experience with database monitoring, performance tuning, and user management
• Basic troubleshooting and incident resolution skills
